About the Artist
ANN PISTILLO
Impressionist Painter

The child of an artist father, Ann’s passion for art began as a young girl on the southern coast of Italy. She spent afternoons frolicking with her two sisters in the Mediterranean Sea and evenings visiting quaint piazzas, where musicians serenaded and artists sold enchanting paintings of life on the Italian coast.
As a teen, she moved with her family to the American Southwest where she blossomed into a classically-trained musician.
After her marriage to Dominic (who she calls a renaissance man), the couple moved to West Germany and travelled extensively in Europe, studying the renaissance and indo-european artists. The couple summered on their boat where Ann scuba-dived and painted, developing a love and keen understanding of the ocean and all its moods.
Throughout her life she has been a student of all the arts – music, dance, mosaics, oil painting, watercolor, photography and artistic horticulture. Her two favorite places in the world are “the Italian Lake Country and my beloved Maui.”
Ann is a classically-trained concert violinist, holds a Doctorate in Environmental Design from UAT, is Co-Founder of the Leonardo da Vinci Society for the Study of Thinking, and is on the Board of Directors of the Maui Arts League.
Her special gift is her “understanding of the movement of water and its interaction with the land, or Aina, and the connectedness of all things in our multilayered world.” Her studio is on the grounds of Maui Mist Gardens outside of Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii.
